Lockwire / Safety wire is used in many applications. Commonly used in Aerospace and Defense applications for safetying which means: “Securing by various means any nut, bolt, turnbuckle etc., on the aircraft so that vibration will not cause it to loosen during operation.” Lockwire is used as a safety device to prevent the disengagement of screws, nuts, bolts, snap rings, oil caps, drain cocks, valves, and parts. In addition to Aerospace and Defense applications, lockwire has thousands of uses around the home, in the workplace, and on the farm.

Monel wire is highly resistant to corrosion caused by salt water and acidic environments, so it’s also often used in marine applications.
