Black annealed wire, which is made of low carbon steel or iron, is often applied for weaving, baling in home use and construction. The annealing process takes a simple post drawn “bright basic” steel wire and heats it in an oven or kiln changing the chemical composition. This process softens the wire as well as changing its color from more of a rough grey or silver to more black or brown color.
