Black Annealed Tie Wire
The everyday workhorse for interior construction
Black annealed tie wire is the most widely used tie wire in construction. Fully annealed for a dead-soft temper, it achieves a dead-soft temper that makes it exceptionally pliable — easy to twist by hand or with a twister tool without snapping. The dark matte finish is a natural result of the annealing process and carries no corrosion protection, so this wire must be kept dry.

Galvanized Annealed Tie Wire
Outdoor-rated with zinc corrosion protection
Galvanized annealed tie wire starts with the same soft steel as black annealed wire, then receives a hot-dip or electro-galvanized zinc coating that seals the surface against moisture and oxidation. It retains excellent pliability while delivering meaningful corrosion resistance for exterior applications where black wire would rust quickly.

PVC Coated Tie Wire
Color-coded, weatherproof, and versatile outdoors
PVC coated tie wire wraps a galvanized or steel core with a durable polyvinyl chloride jacket. The jacket provides weatherproof insulation, resists chemicals and UV exposure, and is available in multiple colors for easy identification in the field. It is slightly stiffer than bare wire but still hand-workable.

Copper Coated Tie Wire
Cleaner handling for daily industrial tying
Copper coated tie wire bonds a thin layer of copper onto a steel wire core. The copper surface is cleaner and less abrasive than black annealed wire, reducing hand staining and tool wear during repetitive tying operations. It offers modest corrosion resistance — better than black wire but not suited for long-term outdoor or wet exposure.

Aluminum Tie Wire
Lightweight, non-rusting, galvanically compatible with aluminum jacketing
Aluminum tie wire is drawn from commercially pure or alloy aluminum, making it significantly lighter than steel alternatives. It will not rust or stain, and — critically for insulation work — it avoids the galvanic corrosion that would occur if steel wire contacted aluminum pipe jacketing. It is softer than steel, so lighter hand torque is needed when twisting.

Stainless Steel Tie Wire (304 / 316)

Stainless steel tie wire in grades 304 and 316 offers true long-term corrosion resistance through chromium-oxide passivation. Grade 304 is the standard specification for most corrosive industrial and architectural uses. Grade 316 adds molybdenum for superior resistance to chlorides and acidic media, making it the preferred choice in marine and chemical plant environments. Both grades conform to ASTM A580.

Monel 400 Tie Wire

Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy (approx. 65% Ni, 30% Cu) renowned for its resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and chloride-containing environments that rapidly attack stainless steel. Supplied in dead-soft temper for easy field tying, it is widely specified in offshore oil and gas, marine, and chemical insulation contracts where wire longevity in aggressive environments is mandatory.

Both grades retain mechanical integrity at extreme temperatures, making them indispensable in gas turbine insulation, exhaust systems, and aerospace hot-section applications.
