- Higher. Premium is worth it where 304 would corrode.

What is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel wire?
The key difference is molybdenum. 316 stainless contains 2–3% molybdenum in addition to 18% chromium and 10% nickel, which gives it superior resistance to chlorides, saltwater, and acidic environments. 304 stainless has 18% chromium and 8% nickel but no molybdenum — it offers excellent general-purpose corrosion resistance at a lower cost.
When should I use 316 stainless wire instead of 304?
